A group of ten sentenced of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced allegations of circulating untruths regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the couple's 24-year age gap.

The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has still to be made public.

A circulating unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's gender.

Their legal filing states that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has often echoed these allegations on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron first met her now-husband when she taught at his lycée.

The two tied the knot in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
