19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is his initial title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive play style and frequent reactions on court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent saved 4 initial opportunities in a competitive third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
